Time and Value

Most of us go through time and get a job in exchange for money. There’s that cliche saying “time is money.” But is it really?

Time may very well be more valuable than money. Ask anyone with Cancer.

Time is so precious and it can be easy to forget that we are on this earth for such a short period of time to make the most out of each day.

To understand this concept it takes more than just reading these words on a screen. It’s difficult to wrap your head around not being here any longer. Steve Jobs lived by a quote, “live each day as if it was your last, because one day you will be right”

Stop wasting time on mundane things that won’t matter. We consume nonsense everyday which clogs up our thoughts and creativity. CREATE instead of consume. Create content, a product, service, anything of Value. Read anything by Seth Godin on creating Art

Think for yourself and believe in the possibilities. Invest in yourself. That is the BEST investment you can possibly make. Invest by purchasing books, taking courses, and learning new things on a daily basis. Always be learning. If you’re not improving over time gravity will push you down and you will become mediocre.

Invest in yourself by improving your overall health to live a longer life that matters. Nobody wants to be the richest man in the graveyard.

Dare to dream. Be brave enough to chase and remove the fear. This is a lot easier said than done. Taking baby steps and developing Mini Habits can help develop the proper skills in order to accomplish your dreams.

No one wakes up and is an overnight success. Success is a way of living and it is all in the journey. So enjoy the ride.

Be curious and ask questions. Don’t know something then take the time to learn. Ask someone who has gone through the same struggles that you have and find out how they got through that.

Find a mentor and follow through on their advice. Follow up with them and let them know about your results. Don’t feel like you don’t have anything of value to exchange for their time and effort. Successful people love to help Doers.

When you hit a wall, find a way around or over. This separates you from the rest. Most people give up. Only 5% of the population has figured out how to properly use money. The rich don’t work for money, they have money work for them. Think about that for a second and you will find out why the rich keep getting richer. They have figured out how to play the game.

This frees up something much more precious: TIME. Start with 5 minutes a day, but everyday. This will create a snowball effect and the results will show for themselves down the road.

As one of my favorite Entrepreneurs and teacher Ramit Sethi says, “A year from now you will be 1 year older, what have you done”

Life you want can’t keep being postponed, that mentality is toxic. Hanging out with the wrong people is sickening to the disease of mediocrity. Don’t chase the big House, fancy car, big money only because you see others doing it.

Understand your wound and how you try to fill it. This will be key on moving forward with your progress and life improvement.

You are the average of the 5 people you hang out with most. Look for great people to surround yourself with. Reach out and ask for help. You may be surprised by the response.

Actionable Steps:

Reach out to the most successful person you know and send them an email this week.  Ask to speak to them for a very short period of time 5-15 minutes. Pick their brain and ask them about their habits. You will learn more about how and why they got to where they’re at.

Pick up a book, any book and Read 5 minutes a day. 2 Pages a day. So easy you can trick your prefrontal cortex to go through with it. Another Mini Habits reference.

Keep Grinding Daily! Create that snowball and push yourself! You can do it, the most important person that must believe is YOU!
